Product Description

We understand how important your pets are to you, we're pet people too.  HemPetz Hemp Seed Oil Supplement is perfect because it contains many necessary components to keep your pet healthy, happy and mobile for as long as possible

Omega Fatty Acid Supplements

Hemp Seed oil can be used for a variety of different reasons – for many years pet owners have given these essential fatty acids to their pets to improve skin and coat health.  More recently, research has shown that fatty acids play important roles in other areas of body function, including controlling inflammation, reducing allergy symptoms, reducing joint pain, and improving function of other organs.

What Are Fatty Acids?

Just like humans, animals can produce some of the fatty acids they need, but not all of them.  The fatty acids they cannot produce themselves are called essential fatty acids (EFA's), and must be obtained through their diet. Most pet foods today add fatty acids, but in processed foods they are subject to degradation.  Overcooking, improper storage, or a sub-optimum level of antioxidants in dry food can result in rancidity and a subsequent deficiency in fatty acids.  Because of the possibility that the diet may not provide adequate amounts of EFA's, as well as the benefits of increased EFA intake, many owners choose to supplement their pets. The Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio of Hemp Seed oil is optimal, 3:1.

Conditions Improved Through Essential Fatty Acid Supplementation

By supplementing EFA's, we may be able to decrease the effects of inflammation.  There are many diseases that create an inflammatory response in the body, and supplementing has shown to decrease many of these symptoms.

  • Dull, Dry Hair and Skin

Hair coats which are dull, dry, and brittle often respond to supplementation with both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Decreased shedding is one welcomed benefit!  Also, for dry skin patches, simply apply topically, as well as the traditional internal applications.

  • Allergies and Autoimmune Conditions

These conditions occur because the immune system over-reacts. Like humans, pets have Cannabinoid receptors and an Endocannabinoid system, and some receptors are connected to the immune system. Hemp Seed Oil is also rich in nutrients, containing many vitamins and minerals that our cells know exactly how to use!

  • Arthritis

Hemp Seed oil is a natural anti-inflammatory. Therefore we can decrease the pain, as we know that inflammation is associated with arthritis.

  • Inflammatory Diseases

Other diseases which are accompanied by inflammation, such as ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and rheumatoid arthritis may respond to the anti-inflammatory effects of Hemp seed oil.

  • Yeast Infections

Fatty acids have been shown to slow down the growth of common yeast infections.

  • Cancers

Essential fatty acids and a healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals have been shown to slow the development and metastasis of certain cancers, discouraging tumor growth.

  • Brain and Eye Development

Essential fatty acids, especially DHA and EPA, have proven essential for proper development of the brain and eyes.

  • Anxiety

Essential Fatty Acids and nutrition have been known to play a critical role in mental health

The use of a fatty acid supplement can often decrease or eliminate the necessary dose of medications.

Since fatty acids need to be incorporated into cell membranes, they usually do not have an immediate effect. Supplements must be given daily, as they take time to build up in the body – a single dose is unlikely to offer relief.

Side Effects of Fatty Acid Supplementation

There are few side effects to supplementing fatty acids.

Why Supplement?

Fatty acids have been shown to be important in the health of skin, coat, joints, and other body systems.  They have also been shown to reduce symptoms of arthritis and other inflammatory diseases, even slowing the progression of some types of cancers. For the average pet owner, you may wish to decrease shedding by supplementing fatty acids.
